About City of Kaufbeuren

  • Kaufbeuren is also called the gateway to the Allgäu due to its peripheral location to the Allgäu

The challenge
In order to be able to manage the large number of different applications and the associated requirements of the IT department on a daily basis, standardized processes are necessary. Users therefore do not install the required software manually and locally – instead, all workstations are managed centrally via a software deployment solution.

The migration from Windows 7 to Windows 10 was accompanied, among other things, by a repackaging of all software applications. The complete migration of the entire infrastructure entailed a technology change from VMware ThinApp to Microsoft App-V.

"Our previous packaging approach has been efficient and consistent, so software packages were deployed directly to different platforms, such as Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows 7 x86. The strategy of virtualizing the different specialist applications should also be maintained in the future."

Raynet offers various operating models for software packaging. The proven mixed operation, which combines both on-site and remote packaging, offers the highest level of efficiency.

"Our packaging factory and the associated solutions RayFlow and RayPack Studio provide a convenient and time-saving way to outsource the entire packaging process, from evaluation to packaging and quality assurance.
