The new version offers a lot of outstanding features and functions: Besides intelligent automatisms and an enormous performance increase, this release focuses on Citrix App Layering, support for the Windows 10 update (May 2020) and MSIX technology.

Innovative & unique: Realize app layering projects with RayPack Studio

RayPack Studio’s new component PackLayering provides pleasant answers and solutions when it comes to the cumbersome topic of application layering.

With the new version, application layers can not only be created, but also converted, edited, and saved. The innovative technology provides high flexibility and enormous time savings. RayPack Studio closes the functional gaps that arise with app layers and VDI using Citrix App Layering technology once and for all. Typical challenges are large and unnecessary amounts of data, which lead to performance losses, conspicuously large network and storage capacities, but also to conflicts between the individual application layers.

Different target formats can be created with only one RayPack Studio project. Single Source of Truth – classic, modern or VDI.

Convert packages to the Citrix AppLayering LAYPKG format

Existing MSI-based installations can now be converted to Citrix AppLayering Layer (*.LAYPKG) and then imported into your console.

Repackaging of Citrix AppLayering

With the new target format, you can now use Citrix AppLayering layers as the target for creating *.LAYPKG archives that can be imported into your console.

Full support of the latest MSIX functions

With this version the latest MSIX features are supported: services, maintenance and fixes. It is now possible to create software packages including services. PowerShell scripts are also supported and can be configured to run both before and after the package is started.

In addition to updates, new features and enhancements to MSIX, Package Support Framework (PSF) and MSIX Core have been added that make packaging-specific challenges such as setting up data or configuring user profiles a thing of the past.

Get ready for MSIX app attach: The future of application deployment in virtual environments

RayPack Studio provides the out-of-the-box function to convert any supported format to MSIX app attach-VHD. With the MSIX app attach features, the application is completely separated from the operating system it is running on and can be dynamically attached and detached without visible delay. This enables a smooth deployment.

PowerShell AppDeployment Toolkit Version 3.8.2

RayPack Studio’s PackWrapper and PackDesigner components now use the latest version of the PowerShell App Deployment Toolkit.

Empty folders are captured during the repackaging

With this new feature it is possible to capture empty folders during the repackaging process. The change is fundamental for users who have worked with RayPack for years and have been oriented towards automatic exclusion of resources.

Always up-to-date: RayPack Studio supports the latest features of the Windows 10 May 2020 Update

Since the Windows 10 May 2020 Update it is possible to create packages with package services. Such packages require administrative rights during the initial installation. With RayPack Studio 6.3 you can set up your packages in visual designer mode and also have them converted from your MSI packages or repackaging projects.

The MSIX Package Compatibility test engine has been improved and adapted to reflect the current state of MSIX/APPX status, including newly added features and capabilities from the latest versions for Windows 10.

Enormous performance optimization of the RayQC Advanced Test Engine

The core components of the test engine and plug-ins have been redesigned to improve performance and memory consumption in complex test scenarios. Overall, impressive results were achieved.

PowerShell Automation

Using the new RQC Advanced PowerShell module, the testing, remediation and reporting of packages, snapshots and merge modules can be automated and integrated into other workflows.

Identifical component identifiers
Conflicting files
Registration of executables

New data field type with multiple selection

With the extension of the data field types, users can define multiple values via a control, via checkboxes.

Thanks to this improvement it is not only easier to model some applications and process relevant data, but also to include parameters from RayFlow (multi-drop down data field).
