Raynet releases RayPack version 1.4 worldwide today: the new version combines the latest technology with the demands of the global market
Raynet GmbH, Europe’s leading provider of software packaging and application lifecycle management solutions, releases on schedule version 1.4 of its packaging solution, RayPack.
Users of the solution impatiently await each of Raynet’s releases as most of the new content included in these versions stems from ideas and suggestions from customers and subject matter experts. This becomes clear when looking at the release documentation for RayPack 1.4.
Here are some of the most important new features of RayPack 1.4:
Ahead of its time
New ”Look and Feel“
Raynet has always been one of the few international software providers placing significant importance on the modern and clear-cut design of its products’ user interface. Usability and responsiveness are not the only principles followed by Raynet in the development of its user interfaces. This release showcases the latest generation of the RaySuite product family, which aims to follow Raynet’s design guidelines consisting of increasing clarity, organization and flexibility.
We welcome everyone to get acquainted with its new features, to enjoy a piece of well-engineered technology, and above all, reap the benefits brought by such an efficient interface.
Central Repository of Teamwork Resources
The ongoing management of available resources is one of the key challenges for the efficient and long-lasting maintenance of a packaging factory. That is why RayPack’s set of functionality has been extended to now include the organizational PackPoint unit, which acts as a dedicated location for persistent configuration and customization definitions. PackPoint offers support for central and release-independent configurations of the RayPack function core. It no longer matters if a packaging team is spread over the globe or concentrated in one office – with PackPoint, all resources are well structured and simply managed.
All-rounder for Enterprise Packaging requirements
New virtual format: ThinApp (Virtualization Pack)
With the integration of VMware’s ThinApp as a virtual packaging format, RayPack extends its profile as an all-around solution, able to address enterprise packaging challenges. We have combined RayPack’s amazing features in software packaging design together with the modern options for application virtualization of ThinApp (versions 4.6 up to 5.1) – thus modernizing the design, delivery, and management of today’s workplace.
Maximum Security for Valuable Infrastructure Assets
The integrity of the IT infrastructure in an enterprise is always under pressure exerted by external threats as well as internal abuse. To ensure that every device in an environment is constantly managed and fully under control, many security guidelines for IT infrastructures demand that only signed applications are deployed to end-user devices. The new release of RayPack 1.4 includes functionalities for MSI package signing during application packaging. Using standard technology for the authorization of packages guarantees both, minimal effort to obtain an authorized software portfolio and maximum security for valuable assets of your IT infrastructure, all at the same time.
Optimizing Resource Recognition Patterns
Semi-automated exclusion creation
The profile-based exclusion lists for clean and optimized system snapshots have always been an integral part of RayPacks core feature set. Now they are even more efficient with the new option to adjust their items directly from the RCP Editor interface. An explicit project for content creation and the management of exception lists have been consolidated in one single step. Two major aspects of working with RayPack have therefore been improved: user-friendliness and efficiency.
Full MSI Standard Support
Runtime Operations for registry objects
The MSI Standard, with its high number of default tables and columns, includes many basic functionalities required for the management of installation routines. Although removing keys and values from a specific registry during the de-installation process may be a mundane task, it still requires many direct manipulations of custom actions and direct table content, which can disrupt most packaging frameworks. However, these days are now a thing of the past for RayPack users. The same clear methods used in the runtime operations for data and folders have now also been extended for registry objects and allow the user to click their way through the custom-tailored installation routine.
Extended configuration options for App-V 4.6 and App-V 5.0 and ThinApp (virtualization pack)
In previous RayPack releases, we have presented the basic support for basic App-V packages. However, with this release of 1.4., we are bringing this to an expert level of configuration. Now the possibilities in dialog creation also contain the settings for fine tuning “on-the-fly” ThinApp packages.
For virtualization projects, enterprises can now use the specialized setting’s features, which have been equipped with the configuration interface that Raynet has integrated in the profile management of
its RayPack settings.
